I've been too occupied enjoying the spring weather outside to sit in front of the computer! Here are a few pics from one of my recent walks ...
Nature will bear the closest inspection. She invites us to lay our eye level with her smallest leaf, and take an insect view of its plain. - Henry David Thoreau
Yes, this gem of unspoiled land is just two blocks from home! The last time I traversed these paths was at least 12 years ago. Such a treat to walk those trails again ...
I have been so moved by God's work in creation lately. Spring is an amazing time of year. One day, I am gazing on the graceful artistry of the bare branching limbs on the giant oak tree in the backyard. The next day, it is covered in tiny bright green leaves. Only two days later, the tiny sprouts are big flowing leaves. I can't imagine what it must take for that huge tree to poof out its thousands of leaves in such a short time.
Thank you, Christin! I have been very moved by God's creation lately as well. It seems everywhere I turn, I see His handiwork all around me. I feel He lavishes us with His grace by giving us this natural beauty to live in & behold. Nature can bear the "close inspection" Thoreau speaks of precisely because it bears the imprint of a perfect Creator.
I feel so privileged to live here. There are so many beautiful places in the world, but I feel like nothing really compares to home. There's so much to see just outside my door ...
regarding the second picture....it looks like it could be a hobbit house or belong to a wood nymph! i would of loved that when i was young as we used to pretend we were woodland faeries and were always making little hide-outs like this...... :)
Hooray -- you've got spring! What a lovely trail walk you've got there in that first picture.
ReplyDeleteIs this right near where you live? Oh.... supremely lovely.

ReplyDeleteBlue - I was thinking along similar lines. That tree trunk just grew into that perfect arch like that. Seeing it made my imagination run wild...
